Tip Top GWA Wingfoil World Cup Presented By Armstrong Foils

The GWA Wingfoil World Tour is coming to New Zealand thanks to Tip Top Ice Cream & Armstrong Foils. A first time for New Zealand and the Pacific, come and see what the worlds fastest growing water sport has to offer. 

The GWA Wingfoil World Cup will include freestyle and surf race championships, taking place over 6 days of an 8 day wind window (March 4th-11th). This will be the first stop of the 2023 World Tour. 

Come down to Mount Maunganui Main Beach to see the action unfold with some of the worlds best showcasing their talent. 

Pre-registrations are now open, and will close on January 18th for both freestyle and slalom racing. After this date athletes can register and GWA will allocate spots according to availability.

Surf Slalom Racing

In the Surf-Slalom discipline, multiple competitors ride around a course with a start and finish line that combines jibes, tacks and parts of pumping or surfing without wing assistance.

Compete in the GWA World Cup

Would you like to compete in one of our events? Please follow below steps:

  1. Register for the event, by clicking the “Register” button on the bottom of the event page. Fill out the the form as soon as possible.
  2. After the pre-registration date has passed and registration is closed, the Tour Manager will send out an e-mail with the allocated wildcards.
  3. Prepare for the event.
  4. Get mentally & physically ready!

Surf Freestyle Competition

The Surf-Freestyle discipline includes the expression format where competitors surf waves or swells and perform air tricks using the given water conditions.

Athletes can choose to compete in both race and freestyle or a single discipline.
