We love the beach and we love beach films! So we will be putting on free beach themed movies on Monday and Tuesday nights at Takapuna beach! It’s the perfect time to enjoy the warm Summer evenings and clear skies. Big-screen films outdoors are just magical experiences that cannot be missed. Blackfish is the story of Tilikum, a captive killer whale that has taken the lives of several people, underscores problems within the sea-park industry, man's relationship to nature, and how little has been learned about these highly intelligent mammals.

Obsessively punctual FedEx executive Chuck Noland (Tom Hanks) is en route to an assignment in Malaysia when his plane crashes over the Pacific Ocean during a storm. The sole survivor of the flight, Chuck washes ashore on a deserted island. When his efforts to sail away and contact help fail, Chuck learns how to survive on the island, where he remains for years, accompanied by only his handmade volleyball friend, Wilson. Will Chuck ever return to civilization and reunite with his loved ones?

Finding Nemo: Sunday 14th March 6pm Presented by MyRepublic

Marlin, a clownfish, is overly cautious with his son, Nemo, who has a foreshortened fin. When Nemo swims too close to the surface to prove himself, he is caught by a diver, and horrified Marlin must set out to find him. A blue reef fish named Dory -- who has a really short memory -- joins Marlin and complicates the encounters with sharks, jellyfish, and a host of ocean dangers. Meanwhile, Nemo plots his escape from a dentist's fish tank.

Flubber: Wednesday 17th March 5:00pm Presented by MyRepublic

Professor Philip Brainard (Robin Williams) is experimenting with new kinds of energy, and he thinks this project will save struggling Medfield College, where his girlfriend, Sara (Marcia Gay Harden), is president. But when he discovers a lively, rubber-like substance dubbed "flubber," he gets so excited, he absent-mindedly misses his own wedding. Sara dumps him, so he tries to use his discovery to win her back; unfortunately, the mischievous flubber seems to have a mind of its own.

Free Willy: Monday 15th March 6pm Presented by MyRepublic

When maladjusted orphan Jesse (Jason James Richter) vandalizes a theme park, he is placed with foster parents and must work at the park to make amends. There he meets Willy, a young Orca whale who has been separated from his family. Sensing kinship, they form a bond and, with the help of kindly whale trainer Rae Lindley (Lori Petty), develop a routine of tricks. However, greedy park owner Dial (Michael Ironside) soon catches wind of the duo and makes plans to profit from them.

Jaws: Thursday 18th March 7:30pm Presented by MyRepublic

When a young woman is killed by a shark while skinny-dipping near the New England tourist town of Amity Island, police chief Martin Brody (Roy Scheider) wants to close the beaches, but mayor Larry Vaughn (Murray Hamilton) overrules him, fearing that the loss of tourist revenue will cripple the town. Ichthyologist Matt Hooper (Richard Dreyfuss) and grizzled ship captain Quint (Robert Shaw) offer to help Brody capture the killer beast, and the trio engage in an epic battle of man vs. nature.

There will be a number of food trucks serving a range of delicious food that caters to all. This includes gluten free, vegetarian and vegan options.   • What movies are playing?

    The movies that we will be playing have not been released yet, check back on the movies page when we announce what will be playing. For a full list of movies being played checkout the movies page.

  • When are the movies?

    The movies will be played on different weekdays those being Mondays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays Night at 5:30 pm and 8:00 pm. For more information check out the movie page.

  • Who can attend the movies?

    All ages can attend the movie sessions at Waterbourne, where we recommend registering beforehand. By registering you do not guarantee a place, however we will keep you updated on everything happening. To confirm a one of the limited reserved spaces, you will need to purchase a food package.

    Please ensure that under 14’s have adult supervision, this means a parent, guardian, sibling or friend who is 18 or older.

  • What can I bring to the movies?

    Drinking bottles, small mats or blankets for sitting on, small bags for essential items (please be prepared to have you bag checked upon entry).

  • What transport is available?

    Click here to see a bus timetable. Otherwise there is parking available for those who wish to drive and there will be easy access to the beach for those who wish to travel via uber or taxi services.

  • What do I need to bring to the movies?

    You can bring small mats or blankets for sitting on. Please refrain from bringing seating as this will block the view for others. You may bring drinking water bottles but you cannot bring in drinks from outside the venue. There will also be food and drink available for purchase on site.

  • Can I bring animals?

    Animals will be permitted to movie nights, but event organisers have the right to ask you to leave if your dog is creating issues or making other guests uncomfortable.

  • Can I bring my own food and drink?

    You may bring your own drinking bottle and anything that is required for babies/small children. Do not bring alcohol where bags will be searched before entering the venue in accordance with liquor licensing requirements.

    Food can be brought in from outside the venue, where food is also available to be purchased onsite.

  • Can I purchase food and drink?

    There will be food and drink available from food trucks and the bar. Please note that ID will be required and we will not serve alcohol to minors or anyone who is heavily intoxicated.

  • Can I come by myself if I am under 18?

    14+ may attend alone, however anyone under the age of 14 must have someone 18+ present with them at the movie nights.

  • Is there seating for movies?

    Seating will be provided to those who register as elderly and seated or apply for packages. Otherwise general seating will be on the ground/mats guests bring themselves.

  • Is this event site accessible- wheelchair friendly etc?

    Yes, but please let our team know by calling in advance and by making this clear on your registration. We will make the appropriate arrangements to make this possible.

    We will also have wheelchair access to the rooftop area, for guests with the required tickets/registrations.

  • Is this free/how much does this cost?

    Movie nights are free to attend but to enter we recommend registering as these guests will have first priority.

  • Where can I park my car?

  • What happens if it rains during the movies?

    Feel free to pack raincoats/ponchos, however for safety reasons umbrellas will not be permitted. Movies will continue if it rains but if the weather gets increasingly worse the movie will be cancelled.

  • Can I send my kid/s to the event alone?

    Kids 14+ can attend alone. Anyone under the age of 14 will require adult (18+) supervision.
