Auckland Kitefoiling Championship

What's Happening (February 27 & 28th)

Waterbourne is hosting kitefoiling which will be split into two different races; The Auckland kitefoil championships and the One Hour Classic. This is an awesome opportunity for the public to see a unique style of watersport and for athletes to compete against New Zealand's best kitesurfers. Athletes need to register to be able to race and upon registration will receive a confirmation email with relevant info and rules.

How it works

Auckland kitefoil championships 

This is a windward leward race that will have a male and female champion. The race can be watched from the beach or from the rooftop bar.  


One Hour Classic 

This is a one hour race around a figure of 8 and is open to all classes. This means that you may enter with your choice of equipment, this could include the following; twin tip, foil, raceboard, surfboard. Whoever completes the most laps within the hour will be announced as the winner. 

What to do after the races

After the races we invite the public and athletes to come join in the other activations taking place that day, and later on within the event. We have a range of live music, entertainment, food and beverage on offer.
